Conservative Cat's All-Purpose Carnival Submission Page - Bookmark this handy form, and you can enter almost any carnival with just a few clicks. It doesn't get much more convenient than this, folks. It also has a "Carnival News" section featuring links to the most recent Carnival posts. Also please note that Ferdy tracks a LOT more Carnivals than just the ones listed at Alliance HQ.

The Blog Carnival Index currently tracks 194 blog carnivals and offers a submission form. If you can't find a carnival at Conservative Cat, look here (and vice versa).

Conservative Cat's Permanent Floating Ping Festival. Just send a ping to http://www.conservativecat.com/Ferdy/.track.cgi/3, and you will show up on the front page. The only rule is you need to have a link to Conservative Cat somewhere on your front page, but most Alliance members should already have that. Just keep it clean and no more than one per day. The 15 most recent pings are displayed in the right sidebar with an excerpt.

Basil of Basil's Blog wants to send you traffic!
If you trackback to a post in his "Articles of Interest" category (usually titled either "Breakfast", "Brunch", "Lunch", or "Supper"), the trackback from your post will appear in the "Covered Dish Special" section at the bottom of the post. All he asks is that you give a courtesy link back to the post you're trackbacking. See the link for details.

The New Blog Carnival Showcase - a chance for new bloggers (3 months old or newer) to get some free exposure. It's a great way to get your beginner's talent discovered. See this post for details. For blogs that are too old, you should consider checking out the entries, since grateful new bloggers tend to reciprocate post links with permalinks.

HaloScan Inline TrackBacks - A New Look

BlogTipsBasilA while back, using HTML tags, we covered how to mimic "Inline TrackBacks" on your Blogger blog using HaloScan TrackBacks.

We began by saying it couldn't be done. But sort of could. The problem is that getting content from one Web site (haloscan.com) to appear in another Website (blogger.com). Oh, it can be done with various server technologies. But standard HTML? Nope.

And the results we came up with were not pleasant. But there was enough of a demand that it came down to a "better than nothing" situation for some.

Today, while Blogger still doesn't support TrackBacks, they do offer Backlinks, which is similar in nature. We covered the differences between Backlinks and TrackBacks earlier.

Why all this recap? Someone's found a way to have inline HaloScan TrackBacks!

7 Deadly Sins has a post about putting HaloScan TrackBacks inline, using a free service currently provided by the Virginia Community College System. Here's the post.

To summarize, the process uses JavaScript to run your HaloScan TrackBack post through a PHP process to create a feed, then displays the feed contents in your page.

It's a pretty neat trick, actually. The drawback is instead of working two sites together (blogger.com, haloscan.com) you're working three sites together (blogger.com, haloscan.com, vccs.edu). More pieces means more that can go wrong. But, since so far, things haven't gone wrong, it looks like a good thing.

If you want another way of offering Inline TrackBacks on your Blogger blog, this is one more.

Some people like Blogger's Backlinks feature. Other's like HaloScan's TrackBacks. Some use the IFRAME trick for putting HaloScan TrackBacks inside the post. And now, we have the Virginia Community College process to give you another option.

New Precision Guided Humor Assignment: State of the Union T-Shirt

During Bush's State of the Union Address, Gold-Star Mother and crazed anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan was kicked out of the event for wearing a T-shirt that said "2245 Dead -- How Many More?".

Meanwhile, Beverly Young - wife of Congressman C.W. Bill Young, (R-Florida) - was given the boot for wearing a T-shirt that said "Support the Troops Defending Our Freedom."

At this point, one would naturally assume that they were both booted for having the bad taste to show up at a formal event dressed like Gen-X slackers hanging out at a Starbucks.

However, since the Alliance is opposed to both naturalness and assumptions, I state with absolute conviction that they were actually booted because their T-shirts weren't cool enough.

Your Precision Guided Humor Assignment this week is to answer the question:

What T-shirt is cool enough to keep you from getting kicked out of the State of the Union Address for wearing it?

Post the answer at your own blog and leave a link in the comments to this post, leave a trackback, or e-mail the permalink directly to Alliance.PGH@gmail.com. Entries due by 9pm EST Wednesday, February 8th and GEBIV will post the round-up Wednesday night. Late entries must be accompanied by a lame excuse.

Precision Guided Round-Up: Hamas, the first 100 days

Everyone knows that a new government is often defined by what it accomplishes in it's first 100 days. That's usually all the time they have to spend on doing things before it's time to return to the campaign trail for re-election... Which brings us to Hamas. Hamas is no longer just a terrorist organization. Now they're a terrorist organization that has been recognized by Jimmy Carter as a legitamite government.

So, what will Hamas accomplish in their first 100 days as the leaders of the Palestinian Authority?

Bob, at either orr, has a copy of the super secret plan Hamas is using.

SeanS of Shoot a Liberal breaks the plan down into 3 easy steps.

Dr. Phat Tony has Hamas' conservation program to share.

tommy is Striving for Average with his top 10 list of things Hamas plans on doing.

Harvey, posting at IMAO, has Hamas' agenda along with the new Palestinian flag.

I (GEBIV of There's One, Only!) have a handful of Hamas' new programs.

Matt Drudge Jr. has his own top 10 list of Hamas reforms over at Anti-Racist Losers.

And Duane, the Pennsylvanian in Exile, has what he calls the "Al Gorization of Palestine."

Optional Exercise: The V7ndotcom elursrebmem Google Bomb

Make a silly post & raise money for charity?

Alliance Member Hans Mast of The (Not So) Daily Me points out a way to (hopefully) score $7000 for Celiac research.

Below is the pertinent portion (sans links) of the post he points to:

The SEO's (Search Engine Optimizers) of the world are having another SEO contest - the goal is to rank #1 in Google for the keyword phrase V7ndotcom elursrebmem (v7n.com MembersRule (backwards)) on May 15th, 2006 with a first prize of $7,000.

Now I can't compete with all those professional SEO's (especially the black hatter's) ... since they have backlinks galore, hidden keyword stuffing, 301/302 redirect trickery, link farms, invisible text, cloaking, etc. but I thought I would toss up this page anyway. And if it wins the V7ndotcom Elursrebmem contest, then all proceeds go directly to charity - specifically the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research and as noted there, they'd be real appreciative.

So if you want to try to win the v7ndotcom elursrebmem contest for yourself, all the power to 'ya. But if you want to help win it for charity, then consider linking to this page using some permutation of V7ndotcom and/or Elursrebmem in the anchor text and I'll add you to the list of supporters.

So if you want to help, copy & paste this code in a post:

New Filthy Lie Assignment: Evil Glenn's Fatwa

It's easy to piss off Muslim terrorists. All you have to do is draw a cartoon of Mohammed, and you get a fatwa with your name on it.

It seems that evil people are easily irritated.

Since Evil Glenn is evil (hey, just look at his name), it makes me wonder what HIS trigger is.

Your Filthy Lie Assignment this week is to answer the question:

What would you have to do to make Evil Glenn issue a fatwa against you?

Post your response at your own blog and leave a link in the comments to this post, leave a trackback, or e-mail the permalink directly to Alliance.filthylies@gmail.com. Entries due by 11pm EDT Friday, February 10th and GEBIV will post the round-up in the wee hours of Saturday morning. Late entries must be accompanied by a lame excuse.
