Increased Visibility
If you're trying to figure out why some people's blog rolls show New, *** or something else letting people know that a site has been updated wonder no more. The Recently Updated feature in blogrolling's preferences page allows you to specify how you want to display updated sites.
The way to let blogrolling and other services know you've updated it is to send ping. A couple of simple pings will let your legions of fans know you've updated your site and increase your visibility.
From basil of basil's blog we have tips on how to make your pinging life easier if you're running typepad or blogger.
* BlogRolling.com
http://www.blogrolling.com/ping.php?pingform=single&title=YOUR SITE NAME HERE&url_1=http://YOURBLOGADDRESS&submit=Ping
* Technorati
http://technorati.com/ping/http://YOURBLOGADDRESS
Now, keep in mind that each of these links/bookmarks/favorites go on one line. You may be seeing one or more of them on multiple lines, but that's a display only issue. Each link/bookmark/favorite goes on a single line.
basil even goes a little bit further and gives the steps to create a shortcut in both Firefox and Internet Explorer, so hop on over to basil's.
Notes: Ping-O-Matic will allow you to ping around a dozen sites to let them know your content has been updated. They allow you to bookmark a results page so you can ping the sites with one click. The downside is that Ping-O-Matic's ping of blog rolling isn't working. So you'll want to be sure to manually ping blog rolling.
Now if you're running Movable Type, there's an even easier way:
When you log in to Movable Type, click Weblog Config. Then Click the Preferences Option. From there scroll down and make sure you're notifying blo.gs and weblogs.com when you update. In the Others box add the following lines if they aren't already there.
Update: For Wordpress Users, sorry for the delay I just got access to a Wordpress Site today, the steps are similar to those of Movable Type. To get to the enter the list of sites you want to ping when you log to the admin side click Options, then Writing and you can then enter the list of sites you want to ping.
In the extended entry there's a whole list of places to ping.

Thanks for the info; however, is there anyway to do this in Wordpress?

Could you please remove the reference to the XML-RPC service on Blogbot.dk?
The service is only available to users who have signed up in advance. Other users are blocked. In order to sign up, the blog must be written in Danish and meet certain other criteria. So I don't think it is appropriate to include in this list.
Currently I block several hits to the XML-RPC service per second. This is consuming quite a lot of resources on my little server.
Thanks in anticipation.
